Established in 1978, the Knelson Concentrator has revitalized the use of gravity separation technology in the precious metal industry. Developed by Byron Knelson and utilizing the principle of enhanced gravity separation; the Knelson Concentrator can be found at various processing plants with more than 3,000 units in operation worldwide. Requiring no chemical reagents, the Knelson Concentrator provides simple, reliable and trouble-free operation in an environmentally safe manner.

Although used primarily in the precious and base metal industries, the potential of the Knelson Concentrator is limitless. Application of this technology for the reduction of ash and sulphur content of coal is being researched which, could help coal-fired generating stations and steel manufacturing plants meet increasingly strict sulphur emission standards, which are designed to alleviate the problem of global warming. Furthermore, the Knelson Mercury Recovery Unit is available to remove native mercury from materials including; tailings disposal sites and old mine workings. These contaminated environments may now be revitalized with the aid of an efficient, chemical-free process, while recovering residual gold values as a by-product.

In 2003, the NRMCA Environmental Innovation Award honourable mention was also awarded to Knelson and stands as further treatment to KGS's environmental commitment. this award recognizes manufacturers and engineers for creative ideas and innovations that result in increased environmental protection.

Enviromental Commitment Knelson's environmental commitment  has been evident since its inception when the first chemical-free centrifugal gravity concentrator was developed. Knelson is providing products and services that will help to minimize the impact of industrial processes on the environment.

Our objective to work closely with customers, suppliers and all regulatory authorities, Knelson continually strives to introduce innovative technologies integral in reducing the environmental impact of global processing industries.
